Rattan furniture vs wicker furniture, what is the difference?

If you’re on the hunt for a wicker outdoor furniture set, you are easy to get confused by the word of  rattan and wicker,  because they tend to be used interchangeably. We’ll be explaining the distinction here,  so you’ll never make that mistake of wicker garden furniture and  rattan garden furniture.

What is Rattan?

Rattan originally referred to a natural fibre harvested from a family of palms in Southeast Asia. These days we use a more modern, lightweight, synthetic material called polyethylene rattan.

What is wicker?

Wicker is a style of weave,its Synonym is Rattan. For most of garden furniture is weaved by rattan, we also call these furniture wicker furniture.

Rattan furniture and wicker furniture are the same

Overall, rattan and wicker are often used to mean the same thing.
